Why Does Extracted Soybean Oil Need to be Refined?

In addition to filtering, the extracted soybean oil also needs to be refined through degumming, deacidification, decolorization and deodorization. The purpose of soybean oil refining process is to remove the residue of the extraction solvent, improve the quality of soybean oil, and make the crude soybean oil meet the national edible oil standards.

1. Remove solvent residues: In soybean oil extraction process, organic solvents (such as hexane) are usually used to extract the oil from soybeans. 3. Meet edible standards: According to national and international food regulations, commercial edible oils must meet certain quality standards. Unrefined crude soybean oil often cannot meet these standards. Only through soybean oil refining process can the soybean oil meet the specified color, acid value, peroxide value, melting point and other indicators, and can it be legally sold and used in the market.
