There are two common methods for extracting oil from soybeans: pressing and solvent extraction.

Soybean Oil Pressing Method:

1. Clean the soybeans to remove impurities.

2. Crush the soybeans. Some machines find it easier to extract oil from crushed soybeans.

3. Heat the soybeans to between 60 and 88°C (140–190°F).

4. Roll the heated soybeans into flakes.

5. Use a mechanical press to extract the oil. The residual oil rate in the oilseed meal after pressing is generally about 6%.

Soybean Oil Solvent Extraction Method:

1. Follow the same steps as in the pressing method for cleaning, crushing, and heating.

2. Place the soybean flakes into a percolation extractor and cover them with hexane, a colorless, flammable solvent derived from petroleum. The extractor will extract oil from the solid soybean flakes.

3. The residual oil rate in the cake after extraction is less than 1%, which can be used as a raw material for animal feed processing for sale.

Please note that while commercially soybean oil is generally extracted using a chemical process that uses hexane, the healthiest way to remove the oil is by cold pressing the beans.
